CELEBRATING 25 YEARS
August 2025

With thanks to the support of Clough fans around the world, this non-profit website is celebrating its 25th anniversary. To mark the milestone, Brian's son Simon has sent a special message of congratulations.
Said Simon: "It's absolutely fantastic that the tribute website has reached such a significant anniversary. Twenty five years is quite an achievement and it has been wonderful to know that the site has grown in popularity over that time, with visitors from around the world.
“Although my father was not really from the computer generation (in fact he probably wouldn’t have known what a computer was if it bit him!), I am sure the website would have made him smile.
“It is very comforting to know that my father is still thought of so fondly by so many people. As a family, we would like to send a big thank you to everyone who has visited the site and sent their tributes."
The website launch on 8th August 2000 was featured in national newspapers and radio stations. Marcus Alton, who started the site after learning website code from a book, is still the website editor. Since the website began, Marcus has written five books about the Master Manager, as well as hosting the acclaimed Clough tribute podcast Green Jumper, which was launched in February 2021.

Cloughie gave his 'thumbs-up' to the website, saying: "If they want to set-up a website for me, why not?" His son Nigel said the family had no problem with the website, although he admitted his dad wouldn't know a computer if it bit him!
Back in 2003, the website received a huge number of 'Get Well' messages for Cloughie following his liver transplant - and they were all passed on to him. The following year, he personally thanked the website editor.
In 2010, to mark the website's tenth anniversary, Mrs Clough released a special statement in which she said she hoped the website would continue for many years to come.
The site was also the base for the statue fund which raised £70,000 for the brilliant bronze sculpture of Brian in Nottingham city centre. It was unveiled by Mrs Clough in 2008. The site was also the focal point of the knighthood campaign and now hosts the popular tribute podcast Green Jumper.

Said Marcus: “The website has always been a labour of love. I’m proud it’s led to the brilliant bronze state, my five Cloughie books supporting good causes and the Green Jumper podcast which now has thousands of listeners in more than 90 countries.”

SIMON CLOUGH'S MESSAGE IN FULL...
"It's absolutely fantastic that the tribute website has reached such a significant anniversary.
He certainly thought it was tremendous to receive all the e-mails from fans which were forwarded to him by Marcus.
“It is very comforting to know that my father is still thought of so fondly by so many people. As a family, we would like to send a big thank you to everyone who has visited the site and sent their tributes.
“We know it has been a labour of love for Marcus who has also made it the home of his highly-acclaimed Green Jumper podcast, which is also in tribute to my Dad. It’s incredible that since its launch in 2021, the podcast has attracted listeners in over 90 countries and the Green Jumper ‘live’ events have raised thousands of pound for good causes.
“Back in 2010, my Mum congratulated Marcus on the website’s tenth anniversary and hoped it would it go from strength tostrength. I’m sure she, too, would be proud and delighted that it continues to reflect my father’s legacy and the positive impact he had on so many people.
"Many years ago, the website became the official site of the statue fund in Nottingham, leading to the magnificent bronze sculpture which now stands in the city centre. In my opinion, Marcus is the main reason that the iconic statue stands so impressively in the city centre.
“He obviously had considerable help from the other vital fund-raisers but I know how much effort Marcus and his wife Sarah put in to drive the project forward right through to the commissioning process. They ensured we were informed and involved throughout.
“The result is a sculpture which has become an impressive landmark in its own right, attracting visitors from around the world who can enjoy taking selfies. Just as the statue will remain a fitting tribute for future generations to enjoy, I hope the website will continue to be a success for many years to come."
